ProFractional laser is similar to CO₂
Published
ProFractional laser is similar to CO₂ — but better (for most patients). Why?
✨ 1. Same collagen remodeling, less trauma Both stimulate collagen and resurface skin, but ProFractional (erbium-based) targets micro-zones while leaving surrounding skin intact → faster healing.
⸻
✨ 2. Much less downtime • CO₂: ~7–14+ days recovery • ProFractional: ~3–7 days (sometimes less)
Erbium lasers heal faster and are more comfortable because they cause less thermal damage.
⸻
✨ 3. Safer + lower risk • Lower risk of hyperpigmentation • Safer for more skin types • Less heat = fewer complications
CO₂ penetrates deeper but also carries higher risk and longer redness.
⸻
✨ 4. More customizable (big advantage) ProFractional allows precise control of: • depth • density • treatment areas
So you can treat aggressively where needed without damaging entire skin surface.
⸻
✨ 5. Real results without “CO₂ downtime” CO₂ = more aggressive, but not always necessary ProFractional = strong results + lifestyle-friendly
Studies show both improve texture/scars, but CO₂ mainly adds more downtime—not dramatically better outcomes for most patients.
